|Description:||Equipment/Materials Utilized: Two way communication system, teletype, computer, burglar and fire alarm control system, general office equipment, photograph and related paperwork and ensure their safety and welfare.|

Primary Location: Indoors
Job Hazards: Normal office hazards, stressful situations, prisoners.
Physical Efforts: Moderate range of physical efforts to include lifting, carrying and positioning of objects up to 25 lbs in weight; prolonged sitting and use of VDT screen and radio communication system.
|Duties:||Performs radio dispatch duties for patrol officers, fire, EMS units, Department of Public Safety, Sheriff's Office, and other law enforcement agencies.|
Answers incoming 911 Emergency calls.
Responsible for typing and/or reporting information pertaining to radio communications, offense, complaints, maintenance, wrecker service, telephone usage, police blotters, etc.
Utilizes teletype and/or computer to retrieve traffic, arrest and/or warrant information.
Assists citizens with complaints and/or inquires.
May be required to assist in prisoner searches, with training.
Make inquires, entries, modifications and cancellations into the TCIC/NCIC computer as needed.
Monitors fire and burglar alarms; utilize cable Television Emergency Access System during Civil Emergency situations.
Ensures all sources are checked for outstanding warrants on prisoners.
Prepares or maintains arrests reports, fingerprint cards, jail log, cell check logs, ID files, supplemental reports, daily bulletins, radio log, telephone log, status cards, wrecker log, complaints, etc.
The employee must have the ability to work well with others and have a good/pleasant attitude.

|Qualifications:||Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Knowledge in the area of radio communications; skilled in general office duties and utilize modern office equipment, burglar alarm control system, computer, TDD, Dictaphone, telephone, typewriter; good verbal and written communication skills; ability to work effectively with the public, outside agencies and other employees; ability to make sound independent judgements during stressful situations; ability to prioritize duties; ability to multitask; ability to maintain the standards required for the performance of duties.|
Minimum Education: High school diploma or GED.
Must be able to type 30 WPM net (accurately)
Minimum Experience (Years): 6 months preferred.
Type of Experience: Radio communications; telephone communication; office skills recommended.
Specialized Requirements: Must attend and pass TCLEOSE training for Police Communications.
Must pass the pre employment testing process to include a polygraph, drug screening, and a disptach overview meeting.
