|Description:||Plans, organizes and coordinates a community recreation program for senior adults, including cultural arts, library services, physical activities, health activities, human services, and special interest classes and programs. |
|Duties:||Plans, organizes and coordinates the development and implementation of community recreation and human service programs for senior adults.|
Organizes and supervises classes, workshops and activities for senior adults engaged in recreation programs and co sponsored programs.
Surveys leisure interests and needs of senior adults. Selects, plans and implements cultural arts, physical activities and special interest leisure and fitness activities for adults.
Responds to public inquiries about senior adult programs made by telephone, correspondence, or during public meetings.
Prepares for publication a variety of brochures, calendars, letters, posters, news releases, flyers, and related communications regarding senior adult programs.
Coordinates, schedules, and maintains related records and statistics for programs and personnel at the Human Resources Center.
Schedules and runs various tournaments for a variety of activities such as library services, table tennis, tennis, bridge, etc.
Provides information and referral services for a variety of social services available to senior adults in the community including library services.
Performs a variety of duties such as answering phone, typing correspondence, running errands, picking up supplies needed for activities and helping set up tables and chairs for classes.
Coordinates the planning, organizing and implementation of senior adult activities.
Promotes interest and provides information regarding senior adult programs to community leaders, recreation officials, community service groups, other departments, and the general public.
Performs other essential duties as required to achieve successful operations of the department.
Attendance is an essential job function. It is an essential function of the job that you report to work on time and work your scheduled hours.
Performs administrative duties including the preparation and administration of records, work orders and purchase requests.
|Qualifications:||Education and Experience: |
Minimum education: High school diploma.
Minimum experience: 6 months related experience.
Specialized Requirements: Pre employment physical and drug screening, and valid Texas driver's license with insurable record.
Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
(A) Skill in operation of listed tools and equipment; Skill in First Aid and CPR.
(B) Ability to develop, coordinate, and direct varied activities involved in a senior center community recreation program; Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, other agencies, participants, instructors, community leaders, and the general public; Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing; Ability to plan the work of paid staff and volunteers.
Valid state driver's license or ability to obtain one. First Aid and CPR certification required, but may be acquired or updated after hiring.
TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED
Personal computer, including word processing and data base software; calculator; copy and fax machine; phone; automobile.
